African Trade Beads
I recently found some beads that I just adore! They are called African trade beads. There is quite a history on these beads, and I find it quite interesting.
Excerpt from this awesome article
“Glass beads were first made in South Africa around 600AD and there was a large bead making industry in Nigeria by 1000AD. In middle age Europe, Italy dominated the trade, particularly Venice, but as trade grew so other European countries made beads.”
I am always on the hunt for exciting and unique beads!! If you know of something that might interest me, by all means contact me!!

I get mine from a local bead shop. You can google african trade beads, maybe you can order them online? They really are the neatest beads!

You’re best friend in this circumstance is going to be Etsy.com. Do a search for ‘focal bead’ and you’ll find TONS of REALLY cool, handmade beads. A focal bead, obviously, is meant to be the main focal point of the necklace/anklet/etc.. sort of like a pendant. But there are tons more there for your perusal. Enjoy!

Randy,
I LOVE Etsy.com. I never thought of searching for ‘focal bead’ . I will have to try that search and see what I come up with.
Thanks for stopping by!
