A lot of people collect sea glass. I simply love it! There are many things you can do with it! Some make jewelry with it, some used it in jars for decoration, some have used it in back-splashes in their kitchen. I really could go on about it. Some glass can be hundreds of years old! I find that so fascinating.
What makes sea glass? I am not totally sure. I have done some reading on it and there is natural glass and then there is beach glass from discarded glass (containers, bottles, etc.) in the ocean that with time and churning in the ocean currents and sand that it forms the smooth shaped piece of glass you can find on the shore. There are a lot of different colored beach glass too!! They are pretty. Reaching further, the different colors represent the different ways that the beach glass was formed. I didn’t know that. Too many to list here, but a simple Internet search can bring up lots of resources.
I have never found any on the beach, as of yet. But I am going to incorporate some beach glass into my jewelry.
