Making Hemp Jewelry

I am going to attempt to write some basics on making hemp jewelry. I have gotten some inquires about it, so I thought I would just post it here for reference.

First things first, you need the materials. You will not learn without the hands on approach. Just looking at pictures and reading instructions will help some but you need materials in front of you to learn it.

You will need:

  • Macrame Board (or something you can pin your work down on, maybe cork board will work)
  • T-pins or push pins work also
  • Hemp Twine
  • Beads, if desired

This should get you started. You can find a macrame board at most craft stores, Michaels is a good source.

Another great way to get started is to get a hemp jewelry kit. It will have most of your supplies to make one piece of jewelry. The kit will also have the directions on how to make the hemp jewelry.

I just started to make hemp necklaces and stuff .. i only know how to tie a few knots…like the spiral and the square knot.. but i want to learn how to tie more knots but i cant find any intructions online .. do you know where i can find instructions online?

I was also wondering if there are any books that would teach me to tie more knots ( besides the square knot and the spiral) that are in store.

if you could give me some Ideas on where to buy books or anythign that would somewhat hemp me on finding out how to tie new knots that woul be very very helpful.

    Lauren~

A macrame board is a board that you can use to pin your work to while knotting. Michaels craft shop has them.
    Does that help??
