Matt’s Hemp Necklaces

I am happy to share some more designs sent in by a fellow reader.

There are several but right now I am only posting one that I have had time to get ready for posting.

He took the inspiration from my “Small Contest” post and made this piece.

I’d really like to know how matt made his necklace, the one that was inspired by your contest. I’ve tried making it according to the directions you use with the boondoggles, but it just doesn’t come out right

    Paul,

He used the directions from that contest thread.
I have not had the time to try it to see how it works.

Someone said it may be a “crown knot” as well. Maybe search that and see if it is the same and try it.

    Edgar Allen,

That is the coolest compliment thank you.

    I will try harder.
Time, it is all about the time :)

    Hey Guys!!

This is Matt, That necklace i made which was inspired by the small contest took a bit of trial and error.

I took two long strands of hemp (the knot uses a lot of cord) found the midway point, and tied an overhand knot, leaving enough of a loop for a bead to fit thru and hold it closed. then i followed boondogglemans directions on the Circle stitch.

    http://www.boondoggleman.com/prj_circle_stitch.htm

You have to make sure to pull the cord diagonally over the previous knot, otherwise it comes out as a flat stitch with no twist. It takes some practice to tighten the stitch the same way over and over, if you look carefully there are some inconsistencies in size and twist. But practice makes perfect

  8. Kristy Says:

The feed is working fine for me. Not sure why it is not showing up on yahoo.

Interesting point of view. I’ll consider changing my mind about this but for now I still don’t see things the same way you do.

  12. Blogger Greg Says:

But what does this have to do with the price of eggs in China? :)

  13. Andi Says:

Oh wow, that’s the same stitch I used forever in Girl Scouts with Boondoggle. Excellent idea using it with cord, never would have thought of that. Seems difficult to start. o_o; Very nice piece.

I dig what you’re saying but there’s a lot more to this than meets the eye, like Transformers! -Roulette King
