Square Knot
Next is the square knot. If you can tie your shoes, you can tie these knots.
The square knot is two half knots together! You are just going to reverse what you did with the half knot.
Lets see if I can explain this. (Instructions are not my best suit!)
Step 1: Tie a half knot, and now you are going to take your left knotting cord (blue) and take it (1) over the knot bearers (natural) and (2) then under the right knotting cord (blue). Notice, I did not tighten the first half knot (at the top of pic), that is because I wanted to leave it untied for this tut, personally once I make that knot, I tighten it.

Step 2: Now take the right knotting cord (blue) and take it (1) under the knot bearers (natural) and then (2) over the left knotting cord (blue) –it will actually be going up and through the loop created in step one.

To finish pull your knotting cord ends tight. (Your first half knot should already be tight, this picture does not show that, it shows a loosened knot at top)
There you have it. If you tie many square knots in a row you should get something that looks like this picture:

Side note, there are 3 different hemp thickness examples in this picture.
I will say it again, practice practice practice!!! If you can tie your shoes you can tie these knots. Of course I am not good at explaining these, but I am trying :).
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Have a great day!

Hey I try to do the square knot and everytime I end up with a swirl knot. Why is it swirling? Im using the same knot I do when I make swirls but I try and tape the strands down to make it straight and it still swirls. It seems like Im not doing something right.

Hi Candy!
It may be swirling because you are not switching sides every time you make the knot. For example, you start on the right side and once you get the knot tightened you are starting the next part on the right side, that will make the half knot swirl look.
Now, if you are starting your knot on the right side, after you tighten the knot, you must start the NEXT knot on the left side. Like in the first pic in this post..
See if that helps. If not, come on back, and I will try again to make my explanation better for you.
Thanks for visiting!!!
