Unique Hemp Jewelry
Creating hemp jewelry is not the hard part, it is the uniqueness that can be the challenge. There are just so many knots that can be tied. Once you learn the knots, that is when your creativity sets in.
People often look for patterns on how to make hemp jewelry. To be honest, once you learn the basic knots, you create your own pattern. Of course you can learn from macrame books, which have great ideas for patterns on making certain jewelry. Unless you have a specific look that you are wanting to master, patterns are really not necessary.
For me, making unique hemp jewelry is the type of beads or embellishments that a person uses to make their jewelry unique. Using different colored hemp can make the jewelry unique. Take for instance the African trade bead that i used for this hemp necklace. The necklace is basic square knots, but the African trade bead makes it unique! The beads are all one of a kind, you can not find an exact duplicate, although one bead may look alike, in essence, it is not a duplicate. That, to me, is unique!!
If you are one that is looking for a hemp jewelry pattern, I encourage you to stop and learn some basic knots and create your own pattern. There are several online tutorials for basic macrame knots. You can find some here such as the half knot, square knot, half hitch knot, and wrap knot.
As for complicated macrame knots, there really aren’t too many. Learn the basics and then you can learn how to alter those basic knots into neat and unusual knots, like the switch knot.
To sum up, making unique hemp jewelry first starts with learning the basic knots. Find unique beads or embellishments that you like, add them, make your jewelry unique to you! Once learning the basics, you can expand out to experimenting with altering the basic knots into more challenging knots. Most of all….have fun with it!!!
